Matthew Chambers

Following a six-year apprenticeship with Philip Wood in Frome, Somerset, Matthew Chambers went on to gain a BA (Hons) First Class in Ceramics at BSUC, Bath. He then went to the Royal College of Art, obtaining an MA Ceramics and Glass.

Matthew Chambers’ sculpture has been exhibited in many galleries around the world, including the British Ceramics Biennial Award Exhibition, Stoke-on-Trent, PULS Ceramics, Brussels, Hotel Le Meurice, Paris and the 5th World Ceramic Biennale, Korea. Since his last exhibition at the Campden Gallery in 2015 he has had exhibitions at the Contemporary Ceramic Centre, London, Mouvements Modernes at Rue de Seine, Paris, Collective Design, New York, New Craftsman Gallery, St Ives, and the Parcours Céramique Carougeois, Geneva.

He has won numerous awards both in the UK and overseas and his work can be found in public collections in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, National Museum, Scotland, the Musée National de Céramique de Sévres, Paris and in private collections worldwide. Earlier this year one of Matthew’s sculptures was acquired by the Swiss national museum of ceramics – the Musée Ariana, Geneva.
