Trained in Architecture and painting for most of his life David V Johnson has been developing these semi-abstract collages mixing and distorting characters/images/texts/newspaper-cuttings/paint/etc.
Released from the built in restraints of architecture, he relishes in experimenting with found materials, moving them around, adjusting and adapting them in order to create and expose what he describes as ‘a character’, something random that may be beautiful, even slightly odd.
Excited by the idea of order, then disorder, which can’t, or doesn’t happen in his architectural work. His latest body of work, collaging between multi layers of panel of glass is taking collage to a new level take a close look at this powerful, expressive work.
