‘Judy Buxton’s painting, as any true painter must see at once, is all about the paint, the stuff and the surface of it, and the making of the painting, the move of the hand and the touch of the brush. Here are paintings as image, stuff and surface, mediated not by the mind alone, but by intelligent, unselfconscious intuition, and a love of what there is to be seen – and done. Losing herself thus, as I say, so intelligently and responsively in her work, she declares herself as the true painter and artist she clearly is.‘

William Packer

Judy Buxton was born in Sydney in 1961. She studied at Torquay College of Art, Falmouth College of Art where she received a First Class Honours degree in Fine Art Painting and the Royal Academy Schools in London for a Post Graduate Diploma in Painting and was awarded a RA PG Dip in Fine Art Painting.

She has received numerous awards including the prestigious Sir Cyril Sweet Prize, for which she received the honour of the Freedom of the City of London, The Royal Watercolour First Prize, The Worshipful Company of Painter-Strainer's in 1996, the NatWest Finalist and Prize Winner in 1997, The Hunting Art Prize Winner in 2005.

Her work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions throughout the UK since 1996, and can be found in many Public, Private and Corporate Collections, both in the UK and worldwide.
