Cetta Di Lieto

Born in Surrey, Cetta Di Lieto studied at Epsom School of Art and Loughborough University completing a BA (Hons) in Ceramics.

Drawing inspiration from visits to family in Italy, the profound impact of intense light, weathered walls and the chalky texture of frescoes has formed lasting impressions that impact her paintings.

Overlooked spaces, indications of human impact within the landscape visually interest her. Pylons, buildings, and telephone wires provide lines and negative space which bisect the landscape, enjoying the balance and shapes they create. Her work is characterised by a nuanced and restrained palette. Integrating painting and drawing, surfaces are sanded, scratched, and overpainted aiming to simplify forms and create a taut quietness.

Cetta Di Lieto has exhibited Cyprus, Italy and in galleries throughout the Uk. She lives and works in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
