Deborah van der Beek trained in London at Central St. Martins and at Cardiff College of Art, following which she spent many years illustrating and writing children's' books, before discovering her true vocation as a sculptor in 1998. Attending a class in life modelling in clay she suddenly realised that this was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. She says, "I was so excited, I could hardly get the clay on fast enough".
Now her sculpture is exhibited in London, Bath and New York as well as Chipping Campden.
