Verdant, the title of this exhibition, reflects the vibrant energy both of nature and these paintings. As a keen gardener and naturalist David Edmond captures the pleasure and solace that he gains from working his garden in South London and from walks in more rural areas.
An initial exploration of the subject matter was made 'plein air' in his garden; he set himself a two hour limit to make these acrylic on paper works. David has made a further fifteen new works in oil on canvas and linen in his studio. He has continued to study his own and his neighbours' gardens in South London. But he also has made works based on verges and hedgerows seen on walks near his home and around Southwold in Suffolk.
