Anthony D'Alton studied architecture in the late 1960's and went on to start his own practice in 1979, working internationally on hotel and leisure projects. His lifelong passion has been art and architecture. Both his mother and grandmother had a strong artistic background, influencing his desire to paint.
The early subject matter for his painting was predominately informed by his professional work, drawing buildings of interest in ink and crayon before some years later turning to watercolour.
D'Alton's recent paintings strive to capture the character of the strong, evocative, and expressive faces of people from the West Indies and Africa against a colourful background that reflects their world.
